Minor Fire Reported at Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant Head End Building Construction Site

JNFL reported that a minor fire occurred at 11:40 today in the electric power supply control room of the Head End building at the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant construction site. The fire was confirmed to be under control at 12:05. The cause of the fire is believed to be sparks generated by cutting tools, which subsequently ignited corrugated cardboard packing materials used to store construction supplies. No injuries were reported, and as the facility is still under construction, there were no radioactive materials on the premises.
