Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited (JNFL) today obtained certification under Quality Assurance System ISO 9002 for its four facilities currently in operation, namely, the Uranium Enrichment Plant, the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Center, and the Spent Fuel and Vitrified Waste Storage Center (composed of the Vitrified Waste Storage Center and the Spent Fuel Receiving and Storage Building). To strengthen its quality assurance activities, JNFL has worked to acquire ISO certification since October 1998, using the objective evaluations conducted by experts from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), an external inspection and certification organization, and making improvements based on the evaluation results. ISO Quality Assurance Offices were set up at each facility in March 1999 to vigorously promote, administer, and coordinate the acquisition of ISO certification at each facility. Today's acquisition of ISO certification represents a new starting point for JNFL's quality assurance activities. JNFL will continue to further improve safety procedures at facilities and strive to remain a corporation trusted by society. |
