The seventh return shipment of vitrified waste from Europe to Japan
is completed today as described below. - Transport ship came alongside the pier at 10:26 a.m. on January 22 (Tue.) - Unloading started at 8:44 a.m. on January 23 (Wed.) - Unloading was completed at 11:30 a.m. on January 23 (Wed.) - Transport by land started at 1:40 p.m. on January 23 (Wed.) - Transport by land was completed (arrival at the facility) at 2:25 p.m. on January 23 (Wed.) - The wastes are accepted by High-Level Radioactive Waste Storage Management Center of Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited. - The number of vitrified wastes canisters accepted is 152 (6 shipment flasks). - The vitrified wastes are owned by the following six companies--Tokyo Electric Power Co., Chubu Electric Power Co., Kansai Electric Power Co., Chugoku Electric Power Co., Shikoku Electric Power Co. and Kyushu Electric Power Co. (For reference, the storage management center has accepted a cumulative total of 616 canisters over seven times.) |
