Based on the "Basic Agreement on Technical Cooperation in Construction
and Operations" (concluded in June 1982) at the reprocessing plant in
Rokkasho village, Japan Nuclear Cycle Development Institute (hereinafter
referred to as "JNC") and Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited (hereinafter referred
to as "JNFL") are now conducting the following activities:
(1) to send operators for test operation from JNC to JNFL;
(2) to provide JNFL's engineers with in-service education and training
at JNC's facilities; and
(3) to provide JNFL with consulting services in respect of preparations
for construction and operations.
In addition to the activities mentioned above, as the two organizations
will soon start the full-scale test operation, JNC and JNFL have decided:
(4) to provide technical support for the test operations of the facilities
that have introduced the technologies developed by JNC, as described
in the exhibit.
In beginning the support herein mentioned, the two organizations will
hold a ceremonial signing of "Agreement on Technical Support" at JNC's
Tokyo Office on July 11. After the signing of the agreement, JNFL will
set up the "Technical Support Department" on July 16 at the Test Operation
Office of the Reprocessing Department, which will be staffed with engineers
(about 35) who will be sent from JNC.
