Press Release Concerning the First 1997 Intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste to the Low-level Radioactive Waste Disposal Centre in Rokkasho-Mura

The second phase of the ongoing intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste from Fukushima1 nuclear power plant, operated by Tokyo Electric Company, was completed today. Overland transport vehicles loaded with LLW began leaving Mutsu-Ogawara port at 9:20. The first vehicle arrived at the centre at 9:36, and the last vehicle was unloaded at 15:39. Intake of the LLW to the centre was officially completed at 15:47. The total number of the containers received today was 120 containers(960 drums), for an aggregate total of 240 containers(1920 drums).
