Press Release Concerning the First 1997 Intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste to the Low-level Radioactive Waste Disposal Centre in Rokkasho-Mura

The final phase of the ongoing intake of Low-level Radioactive Waste from Fukushima 1 nuclear power plant, operated by Tokyo Electric Company, was completed today. Overland transport vehicles loaded with LLW began leaving Mutsu-Ogawara port at 9:24. The first vehicle arrived at the centre at 9:40, and the last vehicle was unloaded at 14:08. Intake of the LLW to the centre was officially completed at 14:15. The total number of the containers received today was 80 containers(640 drums), for an aggregate total of 320 containers(2560 drums). Reference The aggregate number of drums received by the disposal centre in 1997 is 2560 drums(in 1 intake). The aggregate number of drums received by the disposal centre so far is 90400 drums(in 53 intakes).
