The first 1997 shipment and intake of natural uranium to the Rokkasho Uranium Enrichment Plant was completed today. |

Natural uranium imported from abroad was transshipped from a container ship and loaded on overland vehicles (15 trailers) at Tokyo's Ohi wharf. The vehicles left Ohi wharf at 00:00 June 17, and arrived at the Rokkasho Uranium Enrichment Plant at 16:10 of the same day. A total of 187 tons of UF6 stored in 48 Y-type cylinders was transported. The natural uranium received today will be processed to enriched uranium for Hokuriku Electric Company and Kyushu Electric Company. |
