JNFL announced its intake and shipment plan for FY 1998:
1. Intake of Natural Uranium
JNFL plans to intake a total of 130 cylinders (48Y Type) of
natural uranium in FY 1998. 30 of the cylinders will be
shipped from COMURHE in France in two shipments in the first
quarter of FY 1998. The shipments will arrive at Oi Wharf
and be transported by overland vehicles to their final
destination. The remaining 100 cylinders which will be
transported from CAMECO in Canada and COMURHE in France in a
single shipment which will arrive at the port of
Mutsu-Ogawara in the second quarter of FY 1998.
2. Shipment of Enriched Uranium
JNFL plans to ship 72 cylinders (30B Type) of enriched
uranium in two shipments during FY 1998. The first shipment,
for Japan Nuclear Fuel Conversion Limited and Mitsubishi
Nuclear Fuel Co., Ltd., is scheduled to be carried out in
the first quarter of FY 1998. The second shipment, for JAPAN
NUCLEAR FUEL CONVERSION CO., LTD., is scheduled to be
carried out in the third quarter of FY 1998.
3. Intake of Phase IV Returned Vitrified Waste
JNFL plans to intake a total of 96 canisters of Phase IV
Returned Vitrified Waste during FY 1998 . The canisters will
arrive from COGEMA in France in the second half of FY 1998
in a single shipment. The shipment will consist of two casks
each containing 28 canisters, and two casks each containing
20 canisters.
4. Intake of Low-Level Radioactive Waste
JNFL plans to receive a total of 15,680 drums of Low-Level
Radioactive Waste in 11 intakes in FY 1998. 5 intakes will
be made in the first half of FY 1998, and 6 intakes in the
second half of FY 1998.
