JNFL conducted inspections and measurements of 20 canisters out of a total of 60 canisters of Returned Vitrified Waste received on March 13. The results confirmed that the waste therein met all relevant standards.

However, although it was not in excess of the specified maximum of 550 kg, the weight of the canisters was slightly greater than the weight specified in the Application for a Certificate for Off-Site Radioactive Waste Disposal of Phase III Returned Vitrified Waste. In light of this fact, JNFL today checked the weight measurement equipment and found that some minor adjustment is required.

As a result, JNFL has announced that it will re-measure the weight of the 20 canisters after the adjustment is completed.
