Press Release Concerning the Commencement of Inspection of Phase III Returned Vitrified Waste (3rd cask, 20 canisters)

JNFL has completed its calibration of the equipment used to inspect the first two casks of 40 canisters which were installed in JNFL storage pits, and is scheduled to begin inspection of the third cask of 20 canisters from 9:00 AM on 17 August 1998.

The 20 canisters in the third cask are also scheduled to be installed in JNFL storage pits after receipt of a confirmation certificate from the government.
