Press Release Concerning Receipt of a Confirmation Certificate for Overland Vehicle Transportation of Phase IV Returned Vitrified Waste, and Results of Transport Cask Inspection and Measurement Conducted in France

The above parties received a confirmation certificate from the Director General of the Science and Technology Agency today regarding an application to confirm overland vehicle transportation of Phase IV returned vitrified waste filed on 14 July 1998 (modified on February 9 1999). In order to receive the confirmation certificate, inspection and measurement of the transport casks were conducted in France to confirm the safety of the casks. The results confirmed that the transport casks met standards for all applicable criteria.
