Press Release Concerning Partial JNFL Reorganization

JNFL announced today that a partial reorganization of the Rokkasho Administration Office will be implemented from 1 April 2000.

I. Establishment of a Quality Assurance Offices

Quality Assurance Offices will be established within the Enrichment & Disposal Office and Reprocessing Office in order to enhance the quality of maintenance and control operations in advance of ISO Certification later this year. As a result of this change, the ISO Quality Assurance Offices established in March 1999 at the Uranium Enrichment Plant, the Low-Level Radioactive Disposal Center and the Spent Fuel & Vitrified Waste Storage Center will be abolished. In addition, the Reprocessing Office Management Department will be renamed the Quality Assurance Department

II. Establishment of an Analysis Facility Division within the 2nd Main Process Department Reprocessing Office

An Analysis Facility Division will be established within the 2nd Main Process Department to facilitate testing and analysis in preparation for main reprocessing facility operations. Analysis duties currently carried out by the Separation Facility Division will be assigned to the newly established department.
