Press Release Concerning Application for a Certificate for Off-Site Radioactive Waste Disposal of Phase V Returned Vitrified Waste

As the owners of vitrified waste (104 canisters) scheduled to be returned in the 2nd half of fiscal 1999, the above parties today filed an application for off-site radioactive waste disposal with the Director General of the Science and Technology Agency . The application was filed to obtain government approval of safety measures at radioactive waste storage facilities as required by the Law for regulating Nuclear Installations.
