Press Release Concerning Inspection of Rokkasho Nuclear Fuel Cycle Facilities by the Governor of Aomori Prefecture

JNFL has been informed that the governor of Aomori prefecture wishes to personally inspect the Rokkasho nuclear fuel cycle facilities to confirm their safety. The inspection is being made in view of the extremely serious nature of the recent accident at the JCO Tokai Plant. JNFL hopes that the governor will be able to personally confirm JNFL’s commitment to safe operations at its facilities. JNFL will also take all possible measures to ensure public safety when it undertakes the receipt of spent fuel samples, and hopes to win the governor’s understanding in this regard.
